TOEFL and Study Abroad - Why should I write TOEFL?
Toefl is required to study abraod?
I suggest student to take TOEFL test if you consider to study abroad. You can consider TOEFL as good way to proof your academic history. It proofs to the authorizes that you are serious about studying abroad. It gives the university an idea your skill level in academic English. Higher scores usually meant that the students has exposed a large amount of time in reading and writing academic articles. If you have a good score, you potentially going to be succeed in colleges.
My TOEFL test was cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). What to do?
Due to COVID-19, Toefl exams are cancelled or postponed. Many students are affected and their study plan. ETS has launched At Home Testing for the TOEFL iBT® Test. As of March 23rd, the test is available in the United States, Canada, Columbia, France, Germany, Italy Spain, Hong Kong and Macau. The TOEFL IBT home edition is identical to the test center ibt version in terms of test format, test contents, onscreen experience, and the scoring. the score can be accepted and used in the same way of toefl test center version. However, ETS does not have a page to list the colleges that will accept TOEFL home edition, and recommend students to check with their colleges. (If you are form mainland China, there is an increasing number of universities will allow you to take the Duolingo exam as an alternative to the TOEFL during the pandemic.)
Is TOEFL difficult? How long do I need to prepare for it?
In a general TOEFL course, you will learn to be familiar with the TOEFL format and how to write the test under time pressure.
You will review contents and practice base on your weakness. You will get your score from an assessment and know how much hours you need to spend.
Can TOEFL requirement be waived?
Yes. Many colleges look for other measure and can waive TOEFL requirement for the students. For example, colleges may waive your TOEFL requirement if they achieved a 650 or higher on SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Score.
What should my aim score?
In a report from US News, the TOP10 school requires:

Different colleges require different score. In general, USA colleges are looking for minimum TOEFL requirement range from 60 to about 90.
Is toefl required for transfer student?
Transfer students are still advised to take the test unless you have already taken the SAT for critical reading and writing.
American universities ranked 1-39 require a GPA of 3.8 or above and a toefl score of 108 or above.
American universities ranked 40-60 require a GPA of 3.6 or above and a toefl score of 100 or above.
American universities ranked 50-100 require a GPA of 3.5 or above and a toefl score of 79 or above.
Is it still suitable for students who have low Toefl scores to study abroad?
English scores are the most important part for studying abroad, but not the whole story. For students with average grades, we suggest that students can spend two to three months to learn the language and understand their orientation. When you start to meet teachers who studied abroad and classmates who are studying abroad, you can be encouraged or you can encourage each other. In fact, many of them are successful.
